FAQs
Who owns Wishbone?
Wishbone is a privately owned New Zealand company. It was founded in 2000 by Andrea Gibson Scarlett and Shayne Scarlett.
Which store was Wishbone’s first?
We opened our first store on Woodward Street, Wellington - and it’s still one of our busiest.
Where did the name ‘Wishbone’ come from?
Childhood memories of Sunday roasts at Nana’s house are the inspiration behind Wishbone’s name. The comforting warmth and tell-tale signs of potatoes roasting in the oven, rich brown gravy bubbling on the stove top. A love of great food shared around a big dining room table with family, the anticipation of not knowing who would be the lucky one to find the wishbone in their dinner, fighting over who should claim it and waiting impatiently for it to dry on the window sill before carefully choosing someone to ‘snap’ it with – a bit of a wrestle and a moment of luck, finally a winner.
Is Wishbone a franchise?
No. All production, marketing, sales and retail store staff are employed by and centrally managed by Wishbone’s HQ in Wellington.
Where is Wishbone made?
All Wishbone-branded food is prepared by a dedicated team of professionally trained chefs at our purpose-built 1,600 square metre production kitchen and distribution outlet in Victoria Street, Wellington. This ensures our complete control of quality - from the sourcing of ingredients to the finished product instore.
Where can I buy Wishbone?
We have retail
stores
in Auckland and Wellington. Wishbone Heat ‘n’ Eats are also available in most
supermarkets
nationwide. You can also order Wishbone from our
online store
and have it delivered to your door (Mon - Fri).
What is the best way to heat Wishbone Heat ‘n’ Eats?
Our Heat 'n' Eat packaging is designed for the microwave only: heat on high for 3-4mins or until piping hot. Stand for 1min. If you'd prefer to heat your meal in the oven, pre heat to 180oC, remove the meal from its packaging and place it in an oven-proof dish. Cover and heat for 15-20mins or until piping hot.
